A New Chapter: The Future of Little Orangutan

Hello Little Orangutan Community,

After much reflection and thoughtful consideration, I’m writing to share an important update with you all: Little Orangutan will be pausing for the foreseeable future as I step into a new full-time role as CEO & Centre Manager at the The Sustainability Centre.

This decision comes with mixed emotions, as Little Orangutan has been a true passion project—a creative outlet and a way to connect with you, our wonderful customers and community. However, I am excited about this next step, as it aligns deeply with my values, vision, and the impact I wish to have on the world as well as what Little Orangutan believes in educating people in sustainable living.

Why Now?

Taking on the role of CEO & Centre Manager at The Sustainability Centre represents a huge opportunity for me to make a meaningful difference in the realm of sustainable living on a larger scale than Little Orangutan currently allows as my "side hustle". My mission is to educate and empower individuals and businesses to adopt more sustainable practices that benefit not only our environment but also future generations. I will be working alongside an incredible team to drive change, advocate for sustainability, and inspire people to take action.

In addition to this professional milestone, this new chapter also gives me the chance to prioritise my family and my personal well-being. Over the years, I’ve learned the importance of balance, and as much as I love Little Orangutan, I’ve come to realise that juggling it alongside full-time work, family life and my own wellness, I need to take a step back to ensure that I am giving my best to the causes and people I care about most.

What Does This Mean for Little Orangutan?

Little Orangutan has always been about sustainability, creativity, and spreading joy. While I’m stopping the business for now, I’m not necessarily saying goodbye forever or opposed to seeing how Little Orangutan may operate in a different way in the future. I’ve always believed in the importance of making mindful decisions and embracing change when it’s necessary.

For those who have supported Little Orangutan along the way, whether through purchases, conversations, or simply spreading the word, I want to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation. You have been an integral part of this journey, and I couldn’t have asked for a better community to be a part of.

What I will say, is that if you engage with Little Orangutan mainly for the educational content (e.g. composting tips, sustainable living advice etc) then please please do give the Sustainability Centre a follow on Instagram and check out their website for information on forest schools and alternative education for those that gained something from Little Orangutan's sustainable family living information.

What’s Next?

For the foreseeable future, I’ll be dedicating my time to the Sustainability Centre’s initiatives, working with organisations and individuals to build a more sustainable future. This doesn’t mean I’m completely disappearing—just evolving into a new role that will allow me to have a wider impact.

Through the centre I will still be sharing insights on sustainable living, eco-friendly practices, and tips for leading a more mindful, sustainable life. I encourage you to follow the Sustainability Centre for updates and ways you can be involved in creating a positive change in our world.

Thank you once again for your incredible support of Little Orangutan. I’m excited to see what the future holds and look forward to reconnecting with you soon in new ways.

With gratitude and optimism,

Anita Butler
